We have all come to expect family-friendly, lighthearted fair from Disney movies. They are, after all, the place where dreams come true and “happily ever afters” reign supreme. Every once in a while, a Disney film enters dark territory, stepping outside of these comfortable expectations, and entering into the challenging realms of the horrific and the heartbreaking. Ten Disney Songs That Don’t Get the Attention They Deserve

Those of us who love Disney know that the magic and the music go hand-in-hand. There are so many Disney songs that are simply iconic and simply identifiable. Some of them get more than their fair share of play, while there are others that just don’t seem to get the appreciation that they deserve. Today I hope to rectify any oversights and celebrate ten songs that have been taken for granted.

Disney Remakes: Are They Necessary?

With the great success of the opening of the live-action Beauty and the Beast this weekend, not to mention the remakes of 101 Dalmatians, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Petes Dragon, The Jungle Book, Maleficent (a reworking of Sleeping Beauty), and the planned adaptations of Aladdin, Dumbo, and Mulan on the horizon, it seems as though Disney is really on to something from a box office, financial point of view. Every produced title mentioned has been enormously successful, with a whole new generation of kids falling in love with a different Disney than the one we grew up on. Does, however, this remake phenomenon come at the expense of the beloved, classic Disney films that inspired them?
