Mastering the Magic Kingdom: Making the Most Your Time at Disney’s Busiest Park

Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom can be daunting to try to see in one-day. In fact, it is almost impossible to enjoy every attraction on one day, but with a plan, an understanding of the layout, a quick pace, a willingness to sacrifice certain items, and a concerted effort to maintain a steady pace, you can see most of it.

Whenever I attend The Magic Kingdom, this is the plan I follow. I have never used a Fast Pass for any visit, and I have achieved everything on this list, albeit with a feeling of exhaustion at the end of the day. With the understanding that families with smaller children or members with disabilities will probably not be able to keep up with this pace, I write this piece for the enterprising among you who want to achieve Maximum Ride Time. MRT is a goal of many visitors, but it can only work with a great plan (and aide from the Disney apps that show you waiting times for the rides).

From Little Me to City of Angels: The Eclectic Brilliance of Composer Cy Coleman

Broadway composers tend to settle into a style that is distinctly their own. We know a Stephen Sondheim score when we hear it. Andrew Lloyd Webber, the same. In fact, many people cling to the familiarity of a Broadway composer’s style, knowing that attending their latest show will hopefully yield something new and familiar at the same time. We can almost count on this result, and why not? Each composer is unique and cultivates their own sound with each new show that they write. There was, however, one musical theatre composer who reinvented his voice several times over throughout his career, so it is much harder to pinpoint what his style exactly is. Working with a variety of musical styles, and a wide-range of writing partners, each score he touched sounded like he reimagined his talents to best capture the musical world at hand.  This is the eclectic brilliance of composer Cy Coleman.

The Last Jedi: What We’ll Be Looking For

The premiere of Episode VIII in the Star Wars franchise is still about seven months away, but with the recent release of teaser trailer for The Last Jedi, we cannot help but drool at the tempting snippets that have been shared. Not much has been revealed in the teaser, and we didn’t assume we’d be able to glean too much from it. From what we know from The Force Awakens, however, we can surmise that the film will be a much darker installment in the Star Wars saga. As we move ahead, here are some of things we hope to see in The Last Jedi.

Saturday mornings used to be the most-eagerly anticipated time of a child’s week. Getting up early, pouring yourself a big old bowl of Fruity Pebbles or Trix, making a blanket fort, and watching your Saturday morning cartoons. It was sacred time for the kid to rejuvenate from their school week and get lost in the world of animated fun. Of the myriad options you could tune in to over three major networks, the most common names to come up in your cartoons’ credits were those of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, titans of the animated Saturday morning world. This article is a celebration of the best of these Kings of Cartoons and the multitude of shows they churned out over the span of five decades.
